My New year's resolution as a Nurse Practitioner

Updated: Jan 19

Hard to believe but 2025 is already here and, like most people around this time, I take inventory of my past new year's resolutions looking to check some boxes, create new ones and hopefully feel like I have accomplished something. I question myself: Have I done enough? Haven I been a good mom, a good spouse? Have I been a good friend, a good nurse?"... It is a cliche, but I am definitely my harshest critic.

As I welcome 2025, some of my roles remain the same: I am still a friend, a mom, and a spouse. While I will still hold my role as a nurse practitioner, this year I will stepping away from providing healthcare services as an employee, and into the role of business owner. It has been almost nine years since I walked across Old Dominion University's graduation's ceremonial stage with my bachelor's degree in nursing. Since then, I have helped many people, and they've helped me too. I have gained experience as well as perspective but, most importantly, I have learned to not take anything for granted, to seize the moment and to never wait to say:"I'm sorry" or "I love you". As I embark in this new journey as a provider in a practice I can call mine, I hope to form new bonds with my patients and to clarify any questions they may have regarding my role as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), and how it will change the way I practice. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions or concerns so we can form a partnership with YOUR health and YOUR quality of life at the center of YOUR care. I also welcome suggestions for topics for my next blog entry. I hope 2025 will bring us all prosperity, wisdom, and peace.
