Weight a minute!

Most of us at some point in our lives struggle with our weight and I am definitely not an exception. Throughout the years, between being pregnant, becoming a mom, and making ends meet, I parted ways with physical activity, embraced the comfort of high-calorie, high sugar, high salt and high fat and voila... I became obese! It felt like I fell asleep, and when I woke up I went from XS to XL, like one of those fast cars that can go from zero to one hundred in a split of a second.
The reality, though, is more complex, It took time for me to change form a 4-days-a-week gym-goer, moderately active person, to a completely sedentary, overworked, overwhelmed... obese nurse, mom, wife. It wasn't until last September, that I finally decided to make changes, buckle up, and embark in a journey back to a lighter, healthier, happier version of me.
It all started with several patients asking me to help them lose weight - each one of them with their own, unique challenges. I started noticing that they were all losing weight: some faster than others, but all of them moving the needle closer to a healthier weight. I started feeling somewhat of a hypocritical person, knowing that I needed to apply myself and lose weight as well. A brilliant and kind physician and friend shared with me an idea: to create a shareable document where I could write down everything I ate, as a way to make myself accountable for being mindful about what I was eating, and how much of it I was eating.
This idea made helped me stay focused, and increased my motivation in reaching my goals.
Currently, I am very close to reaching a 40lbs weight loss, thanks to my patients that inspired me, and my colleague, that helped me set goals and keep the "eyes on the prize".
I will start a thread in this blog to show several meals that I make for myself, as well as my weight loss chart in an attempt to inspire people that are in the same situation as myself. Who will join me?!
